Hiya friends!
For the past half a year, I’ve been in MIA* mode on the blog. Life kicks in and at some point, motivation to write just runs down the drain. My discovery is that blogging needs to become an everyday ritual. Inspiration or not, you’ve got to keep writing.
So, I am making a COMEBACK on the bloggin’ scene. The recent months was a major makeover for me physically, spiritually, and even geographically.
Exciting updates of my little life:
Got a JOB!
I am now working at AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center as their Assistant Nutrition Specialist. I’m working primarily on the promotion of the Bitter Gourd Project (which you will no doubt hear lots about in the future).
The job is a God-send. Why do I think so?
Only reason: I LOVE my job!
Come on, how many people can really say that? So, I am more than grateful for being able to do what I love… it’s just having fun along life.
Moved across the globe!
Ok, so this comes with the job. I have uprooted my life from Montreal, Canada and now planted it in Tainan, Taiwan. Close to the headquarters of my organization, I am “in” with the vegetable researchers of AVRDC. The greatest reward is that I get to re-discover the motherland I once left behind.
Got a nest!
OK, so my new apartment in Tainan city is close to the NCKU campus, right in front of the morning market and 3 minutes walk from church. What I love is that I live on the 14th floor, overlooking the shinning red sun dotted on an orange sky everyday at 6:30pm. Of course, I also hear the garbage truck from all over Tainan city at this height.
Got a cool church!
3 minutes walk from where I live is the Light of the World Holiness Church. I really know that God prepared this church for me because: 1) I connected awesome with the people there – and plus, I found lots of board game lovers!! 2) This church has a strong focus on young people and the elderly… love that and 3) It’s 3 MINUTES away!
Got a uke teacher!
This is crazy. There happens to be a great uke teacher in Tainan city. Small world, but still could find the crouching tigers.
Got a haircut~!
Ok, not that exciting, but I found Alan, the amazing stylist off the Tainan train station. His cuts made an impression on my mom who will be coming back to Tainan and already planning a trip to the salon. I like my hairstyle too.

Going dragon boating!
Yes, I look petite and it’s absolute true. But, I am putting all my strength in the AVRDC Dragon Boat Team. We’ve had 3 practices and there’s another final practice on Sunday. The competition will be held on the Anping canal on June 5th and 6th during the Dragon Boat Festival. Come cheer for us if you’re in Tainan!
I can see some muscles bulging out of my left arm… because that’s the side I’m rowing in the boat. Hope there won’t be an imbalance of muscle weight.
So, a light update/excerpt of the changes in my life.
Leave a comment, how’s it been for you?
*MIA: Missin in action

Love this post, Jen! It’s great to hear about your life “over there”! And it is so obvious that you going over there and getting that job is a God-send. You look so full of life and just so happy! I love what God is doing in your life. Keep smiling and keep writing. xoxo
Love YOU Audrey! =) Life is good here and full of challenges, but I like it. However, I do miss you. So we should get together!!
